At present, there are no direct train or flight for passengers to travel between Hong Kong and Zhangjiajie, one of the most prestigious tourist cities in China. If travel by train, the recommended solution is to make a transfer at Changsha or Guangzhou.

For the Hong Kong – Changsha and Hong Kong – Guangzhou sections, there are high-speed trains in service. However, for the Changsha – Zhangjiajie and Guangzhou – Zhangjiajie sections, only normal-speed trains are available.

Please note:

1. High-speed trains from Hong Kong to Changsha arrive at the high-speed train station of Changsha South (长沙南). While ordinary trains from Changsha to Zhangjiajie depart from Changsha Railway Station (长沙站). Those are two different stations and far away from each other.

2. You can take Changsha Metro Line 2 directly from Changsha South to Changsha Railway Station.

1. High-speed trains from Hong Kong to Guangzhou arrive at Guangzhou South Station (广州南站), which is far away from downtown. While trains from Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie depart from centrally located Guangzhou Railway Station (广州火车站). Two stations are far from each other.

2. From Guangzhou South to Guangzhou Railway Station, you can take Guangzhou Metro Line 2, with a duration of around 50 minutes.
